Today I photographed Eitan's Bar Mitzvah aliyah (the word aliyah means "ascending" and refers to the act of going up to read from the Torah). The shoot took place at the orthodox Chabad-Lubavitch synagogue in Potomac, MD, which won’t allow photography taken on the Bima (the raised platform where the Torah is read) for religious reasons. So instead, I took some shots of Eitan participating in many of the beautiful rituals that he’s now allowed to participate in as a Bar Mitzvah. Mazel Tov to Eitan and family!
